Join the National Environmental Pioneer Forum (NEPF-SL) on May 22 , 2025, for a youth-led panel discussion in celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity , under the global theme “Harmony with Nature and Sustainable Development.” This insightful event brings together leading biodiversity experts—Prof. Hemanthi Ranasinghe, Dr. Shamen Vidanage, Prof. Sriyani Wickramasinghe, and Prof. Hiran Amarasekara—to explore how sustainable development can align with nature conservation. Moderated by NEPF Secretary Mr. Nethmina Jayasinghe, the panel will focus on biodiversity policy, research, youth action, and community solutions. AIPP Celebrates IDB 2025 with Indigenous Youth and Indigenous Children

Building on previous years, AIPP will once again collaborate members and partners to celebrate the 2025 International Day for Biodiversity. During AIPP engagements with Indigenous communities across Asia, a recurring message has emerged: the need to sensitize and empower Indigenous Youth and Indigenous Children in sustaining our cultural identities, worldviews, traditional practices, and occupations. We have also witnessed inspiring stories of young people returning to their communities, ta king leadership roles , and innovating by using Indigenous Knowledge with contemporary learning. Youth Voices for Biodiversity: Getting Ready for COP17.

To mark the International Day for Biological Diversity, the Acopian Center for the Environment is hosting a youth-focused workshop at the American University of Armenia on May 22, 2025. As Armenia prepares to host COP17 in 2026, this event highlights the vital role of young people in achieving global biodiversity goals. Through presentations, youth-led sessions, interactive games, and a panel discussion, participants will explore the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), and how youth can lead meaningful action for nature. The “Climate-Sensitive Water Management in Central Asia” project (GIZ, BMZ, SDC, EU) aims to: Raise public awareness of the need to conserve water resources; Draw attention to the environmental problems of the Syr Darya and Kara Darya river basins; Actively involve young people in issues of sustainable and rational water use; Promote the development of regional cooperation among the Syr Darya basin countries.  Planned activities include:  🔹 Information and educational seminars in schools and universities on protecting water resources (Syr Darya and Kara Darya);  🔹 Eco-campaigns: cleaning and improving riverbanks, planting trees and shrubs;  🔹 A creative and research competition dedicated to International Syr Darya River Day 2025;  🔹 A national forum on sustainable water resource management with representatives from government agencies, environmental organizations, the scientific community, and youth initiatives International Day of the Syr Darya River - 2025...
