The Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, at its fifteenth meeting and the respective meetings of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meetings of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety and the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization requested the Executive Secretary to prepare an integrated programme of work and budget for the period 2025- 2026, to be submitted to the Conference of the Parties at its sixteenth meeting and to the respective meetings of the Parties to the Protocols (decisions 15/34, para. 36, CP-10/14 and NP-4/12). 2. TARGET 20 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF).

 Strengthen capacity-building and development, access to and transfer of technology , and promote development of and access to innovation and technical and scientific cooperation , including through South-South, North-South and triangular cooperation, to meet the needs for effective implementation, particularly in developing countries, fostering joint technology development and joint scientific research programmes for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity and strengthening scientific research and monitoring capacities, commensurate with the ambition of the goals and targets of the Framework.

The KMGBF has four long-term goals for 2050 related to the 2050 Vision for biodiversity.

The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework has 4 long-term goals for 2050 related to the 2050 Vision for biodiversity.
